If you’re a fan of Harry Potter and have always wished you could cast spells like the witches and wizards in the books and films, then grab yourself an iPhone because your time has come
Wannabe witches and wizards can now cast their very own spell as if they were in Harry Potter – with a little help from Siri.
All those with an iPhone can have a go at some magic without a wand thanks to the voice assistant.
The brilliant tip was shared on Twitter by a user named @_Ivpotterhead where it quickly went viral.
As the tweet shows, you simply have to say “Hey Siri, Lumos” and the torch will be activated on your phone – like the spell in the franchise which illuminates the tip of a wand.
Similarly, once you are ready to turn off the light, you can use the counter spell “Nox”.
Simply use Siri once more and say the word and the torch will be turned off per your request.
More than 24,000 people liked @_lvpotterhead’s tweet, with over 11,000 retweeting and hundreds commenting.
Social media users were overjoyed to discover the iPhone hack, with one person saying: “I’m freaking out this is so cool.”
Another wrote: “IF YOU SAY NOX IT TURNS IT OFF THIS IS SO AWESOME.”
Someone else shared that the hack will also work with Samsung phones, saying: “Same to my Samsung users!! Just tried it with my S21+!”
A different user added: “I’m a wizard now chile.”
“This works with Google Assistant too,” proclaimed a fifth.
A sixth user claimed that saying “accio” before the name of an app on your phone would also allow you to open any app of your choosing – and it really does work!
These Harry Potter hacks come after the cast and crew celebrated the 20th anniversary of the movies, with a reunion special.
Aired on HBO and Sky Cinema, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts saw the stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, reminisce and share behind-the-scenes secrets.
